New mercies every morning

IMG_7993Honestly, the last few weeks have been extremely difficult for my family. Graduations, sickness, holidays, emergency appendectomies, job interviews, moves and suddenly living with two dogs, a baby and my sister and brother-in-law have been some of the things going on in our lives right now. I have found myself complaining, preoccupied, overwhelmed, over worked and in desperate need of rest

I couldn’t be more grateful for a new year and an end to, or at least a break from, the stress. Yesterday, while I was once again dwelling on how much I still need to accomplish, and how much stress I was under and how tired I was, I came across an article and the author highlighted this verse:

Lamentations 3:22-23

… His mercies are new every morning.

In the midst of my mess, God’s mercies are new every day. While I sit and complain, He has mercy on me. When I do not stop and give Him thanks for how he’s providing, He has mercy on me. When I’m preoccupied with to-do lists, finances and imperfect situations, He has mercy on me.

When he should hate me and punish me and cast me aside, He has mercy on me. Because He is love.

His mercies are new every single morning. They never cease. His love is steadfast. These simple words have brought peace to my wandering heart and encouragement to get through another day.
