How we got started …
The idea for this blog started in the living room of a college apartment where we, as college roommates, would often have deep and honest conversations with friends, usually over a giant bowl of cookie dough. We were college seniors in our last semester, and for whatever reason, we were constantly coming up with difficult questions about sex, marriage, self-esteem and life situations that just didn’t have easy answers.
A common theme in these conversations seemed to be:
I’ve had questions about this for years, but didn’t know everyone else did, too. Why did the church never teach me about this?
A year later, we were both engaged, living our “big girl” lives, and still full of questions. We kept finding our struggles and questions pushed aside, glossed over and covered up by others in and outside the Church. Through tear-filled phone conversations, long threads of Facebook messages, and honest talks with other girls, we saw once again the need for a forum of open and honest conversation.
We realized our lives were changed, our shame died and our questions were answered when we sought God’s truth through the Bible and a community of like-minded women. Not because we were adding more rules to the book, but because the grace and truth of God was changing our hearts. Then we had the desire to bring these issues into the light, helping others realize they’re not alone, learn the truth and use that truth to start living the life God has for them.
So we started this blog.
For you — Christian women. Not because what we have to say is important, but because we strive to base everything on God’s Word, which is always relevant. We don’t have all the answers, but we want to provide an open environment where you can seek truth with others and really start to grasp God’s grace by discovering you are a beautiful part of His plan.
Scripture says we are to encourage one another (Hebrews 3:13), bear each others’ burdens (Galatians 6:2), build one another up (1 Thessalonians 5:11), and confess our sins to one another (James 5:16). We hope that by being a part of Rediscovered, you too will find answers through studying God’s word and finding a community of believers who have the same questions you do.
